This bike is quick and it handles. It rides more like a good quality small motorcycle than a scooter. Speed is not an issue even with 'only' 263cc.
It climbs big hills at an indicated 110 kph no problem, which would be an honest 60 plus mph.
The Maxxis tires stick well, even in the wet, the suspension is well damped and the braking is strong. There is even a decent amount of compression braking.
I can detect no frame flex even when pushed hard. There are some vibes at idle but this bike runs extremely smooth.
Niggles? The front brake is soft and the rear too sensitive. At least with hand braking I can use the front, then feed in the rear easily. The balance isn't quite right, but the brakes are strong and effective.
The seat shape pushes the rider forward and the seat foam is squishy and only fair at best. The bike is fast enough, runs strong enough and handles good enough to be a decent ride for 500 or 600 klicks in a day, but it is let down mostly by the foam in the seat for the larger rider. For me after 250 km it stops being fun, still that's not bad.
The idea of twin headlights looks good, but 35W bulbs are a joke, especially on the highway on low beam. Once out of town I just use high beam, then things are better, but improvement is still needed; 50W each at least.
The front tire is almost triangular and screws up the high speed cornering. For more normal scooter speed riding it's fine but bring on the Diablo, the bike is good enough it can use it.
Still don't get me wrong, I find myself leaving my DL1000 V-Strom at home and taking the Citycom, it's that good. To me the term scooter doesn't do it justice, it's an excellent small motorcycle and a blast to ride.
